When it comes to a healthy food source that is full of protein, fiber and iron, most people do not naturally tend to think of soy nuts, but actually they are one of the best options available for offering a healthy and delicious source of nutrition.

Soy nuts are a delicious snack option, and they are so tasty you might forget that you are actually eating something so healthy. Packed full of protein and fiber, soy nuts have a lot to offer and are a staple for many people looking for a healthy, convenient snack.

Soy nuts come in many different flavors, and often found in different varieties such as salted, unsalted and roasted or dry. No matter which type is your favorite, they all offer a lot of nutritional value. Soy nuts are available year round and are found readily in most grocery stores and natural food stores. They can also be added to salads to add some texture and crunch, and mixed in trail mix with raisins, dried fruits and nuts. Endurance athletes often carry a mixture of trail mix or other snack mixtures that include soy nuts. Even at a lot of endurance events there are soy nuts available to participants to offer them a quick snack of protein and healthy carbohydrates that the body needs.

Just how nutritious are soy nuts? Here is an example. In ½ cup of soy nuts there are around 385 calories, 34 grams of protein, 28 grams of carbohydrates, 18 grams of fat and 7 grams of fiber. It is important to note too, that the grams of fats and carbohydrates are of the best kind. Soy nuts contain complex carbohydrates, which are the best kind for your body to digest and use. The fats found in soy nuts are healthy fats and not the kind of fat that you find in other snack food such as most potato chips and fried foods.
