As if we didn’t have enough to worry about with making sure we eat the proper diet, get enough vitamins and minerals and avoid foods that are unhealthy and make us gain weight, we also need to worry about consuming too many foods that can cause premature aging.
While there are certain types of food that are worse than others for premature aging, there are also different aging affects that can be targeted. Physical signs of aging can include wrinkles, sagging skin, skin spots or uneven skin tone. The more serious effects of aging are health problems that emerge from eating the wrong kinds of food for too long. One class of foods that is especially damaging to the body includes foods that contain heavy metals.
Foods that contain high levels of sweeteners and sugars, simple carbohydrates, caffeine, alcohol and processed foods all are examples of foods causing premature aging. Foods that have a high fat content are also bad for the aging process. Oils and high levels of meat are also part of the list of the foods we should limit in our diet. Limiting these foods in your diet can have a big effect on how your body handles the aging process.
Aging is a part of life that we can not stop, but we can help fight it by eating a healthy diet of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and plenty of water. By eating healthy and keeping active, we can add years to our lives and enrich the years that we have. Aim to eat as much of your protein from lean sources and fish and avoid eating large quantities of red meat and other protein that is higher in cholesterol. Eating fresh foods that the body can break down easily and that have a lot of nutrients that you can use is one of the best ways to combat the aging process.
