Dieting has become an integral part of everyone’s lifestyle. Everyone wants to become trim and look good. There are many who think that they diet but actually end up starving and losing a huge amount of energy in that process.

The cabbage soup diet is a low fat high fibre diet that helps in shedding weight as quickly as in 7 days. This diet also has names like the Mayo Clinic Diet and the Sacred Heart Hospital Diet.

Generally any diet needs time to actually work on the body. But the major drawback in those kinds of diet is that people tend to lose hope and quit dieting thinking that it has not worked for long. But on the other hand the cabbage soup diet shows an instant and considerable loss in weight just in 7 days because of which people tend to go for this. It is not a long term weight loss unless and until a proper diet is managed after the weight loss, but to get immediate results, this is the best.

A proper recipe for making cabbage soup is with onions, green pepper, carrots, mushrooms and cabbage. All the ingredients are to be cooked for 2 hours and then a variety of spices can be added to alter the taste according to your likes.

The soup diet mainly works on the principle of fat burning. The amount of soup consumed is directly proportional to the amount of weight lost by you. Along with the soup diet, the 7 day diet plan can be followed for a rapid and visible diet.

Consuming only cabbage soup may be sickening since the taste of cabbage is bland and it may not give the required amount of calories per day. It is always advisable to have fruits on the first day along with the soup.

The second day diet can consist of vegetables and the soup. Remember, the quantity of soup consumed must be more than the quantity of fruits and vegetables consumed.

The third day diet can have fruits, vegetables and the soup. The fourth day must consist of bananas and milk along with the soup diet.

Tomatoes and beef along with the soup constitute the fifth day diet. The sixth day diet must consist of beef and vegetables along with the soup.

The seventh day can be brown rice, vegetables and the soup. This ends your diet.

It is very important to remember that this diet must not be followed for more than a week at a time since it may result in making your body week.
