Toothache

It was said by some famous poet that no pain can be bigger than a dental pain. Toothache can be explained as a situation in which any one experiences severe pain in the nerves connecting the teeth, or there is a swelling on the gums. toothache can be due to cavity or other mouth-related disease. This article will explain in detail about the cause, symptoms, and effective and simple ayurvedic treatments/ home remedies for the treatment of toothache. In ayurveda it is known as dant shool.

  1. Causes for Toothache
  2. Diet for Toothache
  3. Symptoms for Toothache
  4. Home Remedies for Toothache

Toothache Causes

Toothache or any other tooth-related problem is really painful and disturbing. It affects our life and our daily activities completely. The main causes of tooth decay are germs in tooth, cavity in tooth, excess consumption of junk foods and sweets and chocolates. Improper brushing, poor quality of toothpaste and toothbrush is also responsible for toothache. Some study shows that stress and mental tension and anxiety worsen the toothache and other problems.

Toothache Diet

No medicine is effective, if the diet we take is not balanced and rich in nutrition. Nutritional food will make your tooth and gums, and mouth bones healthy and strong for lifetime. Always include fresh green leafy vegetables, juicy fruits, cereals, grams, etc., in your diet. Strictly avoid junk foods, spicy foods. Even if you take them occasionally, always brush your teeth after that.

Excess intake of sugar or sweet foods and healthy teeth can never go hand in hand. When we consume sweets or oily snacks, some harmful chemicals are produced in our mouth. These chemicals led to the growth of bacteria in the gums, and with the passage of time these bacteria start attacking gums and result in tooth decay and cavity. Hence, one should always keep a check on the daily sweet intake in his diet. Similarly, do not munch all the time. Eating oily snacks and junk foods will not only affect your teeth, but it has also bad impact on the proper functioning of entire body system.

Apart from all the above mentioned useful home remedies, few things are very important which has always to be taken care of. Always brush your teeth with good quality of toothpaste and toothbrush. Never brush in hurry, do it properly. This not only will keep your teeth clean, but also your teeth and gums healthy.

toothache is quite painful, and it has to be treated carefully. If ignored may effect other teeth as well. It is always good to go for ayurvedic treatment/ home remedies than for chemical-based medicines. Given below are some of the effective home remedies used for the toothache relief.

Laung (Clove):

Clove is one of the most effective medicines for toothache relief. It is simply the best medicine. The clove seeds or clove oil helps in killing bacteria and other microorganisms that cause toothache or other tooth-related problems. Keep 1-2 clove seeds inside your mouth, the clove extract will sooth the affected tooth, and relieves from toothache. Apply clove oil directly to the cavity or keep a small ball of cotton soaked in clove oil, on the cavity. It is also said that clove oil with little black pepper powder when applied over the paining tooth, gives fast relief and the germs do not come again with its frequent use. People suffering from bad breath should keep clove seeds inside their mouth; it will keep the mouth fresh. However, do not keep chewing it frequently, one after another. Do not take any hot or cold fluid during this time. This is one of the best home remedies for toothache.

Asafoetida (Heeng)

Asafoetida or heeng is a good home remedy. It gives fast relief from toothache. Take 3-4 tablespoon of lemon juice and a pinch of heeng to it. Heat it in a low flame and allow it to cool. Take small cotton ball and dip it in the mixture. Keep the soaked ball over the cavity or the paining tooth.

Onion juice will rinse inside the cavity and helps in killing germs and will relieve from toothache. Do this regularly.

Lahsun (Garlic)

Similarly, garlic too is good for the treatment of toothache. Place 2-3 seeds of garlic mixed in salt over the cavity or the paining tooth. Garlic, like onion, helps in killing bacteria and other germs and gives relief from toothache, and poor gums. People suffering from bleeding from gums, or weak tooth should chew 2-3 seeds of garlic early in the morning. This is one of the useful home remedies for toothache.
