Kidney stones

Kidney stones are stones of various sizes which generally are found in kidney. These are quite painful. It can attack male as well as female of any age. However, middle-aged people are more prone to this disease. These kidney stones are made up of calcium, oxalate, phosphate, and other chemicals that are present inside our body, especially those which are present in urine. These stones if not removed immediately, keep growing and moving to the bladder and cause severe pain, inflammation, and infection. Once it reaches the bladder, patient may find difficulty in passing stool and also experiences severe inflammation at the time of urination. This article will explain in detail about the various aspects of kidney stones like its causes, symptoms, and effective home remedies.

Kidney stones Causes

There is no specific cause of the formation of kidney stones in the body. Several studies revealed that person suffering from chronic disease like gout have kidney stones. It is also found that people living in hot and humid climate and prone to this problem. Unhealthy food habit, less intake of water and other essential fluids experiences inflammation while passing urine and stool, and also causes the formation of kidney stones.

Symptoms of Kidney stones

If the stone is really small like sand dust, quite possible it passes away without showing any indication. However, if the stone is very big, such that it blocks the path to bladder, it causes severe pain in penis, lower portion of the body, etc. Patient with kidney stone will experience trouble in walking fast, running, doing severe exercises. Other symptoms of kidney stones include trouble in sleep, frequent vomiting, nausea, and excess sweating.

Home Remedies for Kidney Stones - Kidney Stones Treatment

There are several medicines available in the market for treating these kidney stones however; these medicines have lots of side effects. Hence, lots of patients have shifted towards home remedies or ayurvedic medicine. Given below are some of the simplest home remedies used for the treatment of kidney stones.

Fruits:

Fruits like apple, watermelon, figs (anjeer) are very effective for patients suffering from kidney stones. Patient should at least eat 3-4 apples every day. Similarly, raw watermelon or watermelon extract is also very good for health. Patient should take anjeer extract, by boiling 2-3 figs in a glass of water, in an empty stomach. This should be taken for 1-2 months. This is one of the best home remedies for kidney stones.

Pomegranate (anar) is also very good for patients with kidney stones. Patient may take its juice or grind its seed into fine paste. Cook horse gram (kulthi) in water and mix 1-2 tablespoon of this paste to it. Drink this mixture 2-3 times a day. This is really a great remedy for curing kidney stones and one of the important home remedies for kidney stones.

Vegetables:

Green leafy vegetables are very important for maintaining good health. Among vegetables radish, lady fingers are very useful in treating kidney stones. Patient should take radish extract 3-4 times a day. You can easily extract radish juice through a juicer. However, for lady fingers extract, cut 3-4 raw lady fingers into small pieces and soak it in a bowl of water. After keeping it overnight, press the lady fingers and take out all its extract. Drain the mixture and drink it 2-3 times a day. One of the useful home remedies for kidney stones.

Similarly, onion extract is also one of the effective home remedies. Take 2-3 small onions and boil it in a glass of water for 10-15 minutes. Drain the mixture and allow it to cool, add little sugar and salt to it. Take this mixture 2-3 times a day.

Basil (tulsi) leaves:

Take 4-5 basil leaves, extract its juice and mix in a tablespoon of honey. Patient should take this mixture every morning for 4-6 months. This is really an effective and oldest home remedy. In fact, it is very good in taste as well. This is one of the useful home remedies for kidney stones.

Vitamin A-rich food:

Vitamin A is good for patients suffering from kidney stones. It helps in strengthening the urinary system and thus prevents in the formation of stones inside the body; it also controls the growth of protein within the body. Some of the Vitamin A-rich food includes apricot, pumpkin, etc.

Apart from the above mentioned home remedies given below are some other important things that a patient having kidney stones should take care of.

First, drink lots of water, this in fact is the easiest and best way to keep kidney stones under control. Similarly, fruit juice is also good but do not take excess milk or milk products, as these are rich in protein. Coconut water and soda is also good for passing off small stones through urine. Coconut water also keeps the body cool, reduces the toxic substance found inside the body. Second, develop a healthy food habit, include green leafy vegetable, whole grain wheat in your diet, avoid oily, fried and protein-rich food, do not eat anything which cause acidity, say no to alcohol, pickles, chocolates, pastries, etc. Patient suffering from kidney stone also avoid some vegetables like cauliflower, peas, carrots, etc., and fruits like strawberries, parsley. Third, take proper rest, 7-8 hour sleep is a must. Fourth, go for walk, do mild exercise, do yoga, etc. There are some yoga asanas like pavana mukta asana which is quite effective for kidney stones patients.

the yoga techniques are also very effecive for kidney stone. If the Kapal Bhati can be practised for 15 minutes continuously for one month, the kidney stone will go in to the flush.
