Jaundice

Jaundice is a disease which is caused by abnormal functioning of liver or any kind of infection in liver. When there is excess deposition of bile pigments in the red blood corpuscles, the functioning of liver get disturbed and as a result jaundice patient’s skin color turns yellow which is not normal. jaundice treatment at the right time is a must. In ayurveda it is known as kamala.

Jaundice Causes

Blockage in the bile ducts because of irritation in the liver and gallstones cause jaundice. Jaundice is also caused because of hepatitis virus, typhoid, cancer, malaria, and anemia. Improper or short flow of the blood in the liver, tuberculosis, and yellow fever also lead to jaundice.

It can be inborn, jaundice occurs when red blood corpuscles in able to function properly.

It is also because of virus and blood sucking infections and when there is problem in the functioning of liver.

Jaundice Symptoms

Tiredness and lack of physical strength are seen in the patient suffering from jaundice. Constipation, headaches, light pain in the stomach, eyes color turns yellow in the jaundice patient, stool color is light brown, gray, or green. Skin color changes to haridra (yellow), color of urine changes to yellow, jwar (sickness), tendency of vomiting, kandu (itching), and fever are some of the symptoms that indicate jaundice.

Jaundice Diet

Barley water, fruit juices are effective in jaundice treatment. Do not give fatty foods and also avoid foods which agitate stomach of the jaundice patient, do not give cereals and pulses as they cause inflammation in the liver. In case of fever give the patient a fruit diet and fresh fruit juices to drink and let the jaundice patient to take good rest. Grapes, black soya beans, nuts, sweet potatoes are effective fruits for jaundice patients.

Take care of the jaundice patient and take necessary precautions.

Home Remedies for Jaundice - Jaundice Treatment

Given below are some of the home remedies that provide effective cure for jaundice, and it has no side effects.

Barley water is light and easily digested so you can also give this to the patient. This is very effective in curing jaundice.

Grind papaya leaves and take half to one teaspoon of papaya leaves paste, to this add half to one tablespoon of honey and mix it well, your safe jaundice curing home made product is ready. Eat this regularly for one-two week. This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.

Take 10-15 basil leaves (tulsi leaves) and make its paste; add this in a half glass of freshly made radish juice. Your safe and homemade drink is ready. Take this every day for at least two-three weeks. It is an effective treatment for jaundice

Amla is very helpful in curing jaundice as it is rich in Vitamin C which is highly needed to the jaundice patients.

Regularly drink lemon juice as it cures jaundice naturally.

Snake gourd (chachinga) --Take 7-10 leaves (dry) of snake gourd and boil in a cup of water. Keep the solution aside, next boil 10-15 coriander seeds in half liter water. Give the mixture of snake gourd along with coriander solution three times a day. One of the useful home remedies for jaundice.

Give orange juice to the patient as it keeps the bowel movement normal.

Drink one glass of sugarcane juice 2-3 times a day. Sugarcane juice is very effective in curing jaundice and it also tastes good. Make a juice in a fresh and neat container to keep the patient away from disease-causing unwanted substances and dirt. This is one of the important home remedies for jaundice.

Juice extracted from ghiya (bitter luffa) -- Another effective vegetable for the treatment of jaundice is bitter luffa. Though this is not much recommended, as it may cause sleepiness, high temperature, headache, etc. The juice extracted from bitter luffa is an effective medicine. Take fresh luffa and squeeze out juice using clean cotton cloth and preserve this juice. Put 3-4 drops of luffa extract on the hand palm of the patient. Let him inhale it. The juice once reach to the nostrils loosen the thick yellow fluid and allow it to discharge through nose.

Take leaves of mooli (radish) and make its juice. Everyday drink half glass of this juice which is natural and safe. It keeps the bowel movement normal and helps in curing jaundice. This is one of the useful home remedies for jaundice.

You can also give tomato juice to the patient as it helps in curing jaundice.

Warm water containing turmeric is effective home remedy for jaundice-- Take one glass of warm water and mix a pinch of turmeric in it, stir well and drink this safe drink 3-4 times in a day (turmeric is a very helpful in treating various diseases like throat pain, cold, jaundice). This is one of the best home remedies for jaundice.

Chamomile, turmeric, dandelion, and barley are effective herbs for curing liver disorder, hepatitis, arthritis, and gall bladder disorders.

Dos and dont’s

Avoid fried and very spicy food stuffs as they cause inflammation and adversely affect the jaundice disease.

Eat raw vegetables salads of tomato, carrot, radish and its leaves, and two-three slices of lemon. Vegetable salad is very good for health and very effective in curing jaundice in a natural way.

Eat almonds and nuts.

jaundice patient are advised to take proper rest and drink fruit juices.
