The modern medicine might have captured many a deadly disease, yet there is still one disease for which a cure is yet to be found. The deadly disease of AIDS is still a mystery to medical practitioners. Caused by the HIV virus the final outcome of this disease is in most cases fatal. AIDS or acquired immune deficiency syndrome is in fact all set to be a global epidemic.

Aids Symptoms

For an HIV infected person the symptoms are evident within 6 weeks of the entrance of the virus. The common symptoms in the preliminary stage include rashes and pain in the muscle, fever accompanied by pain in the throat and swelling of the nodes and the lymph. Apart from this some people also suffer from constant skin infections similar to those caused by herpes virus. Chronic common cold symptoms, continuous fever and at time weight loss are signs that are person might have contracted the deadly virus. In severe cases it may even result to cancers like lymphoma and Kaposi’s sarcoma.

In most cases, however, the person does not pay heed to these symptoms and hence the disease is not identified until its last stages. A recent survey shows that one in every three AIDS affected person was not aware of the AIDS attack until the disease reached its last stage.

A significant point to note is that at times the symptoms of the disease do not manifest itself even after the person is afflicted by the HIV virus. No fixed time has been estimated regarding the development of this disease. In fact it may take one year to even more than 10 years for the symptoms of the disease to manifest.

What causes Aids

AIDS is caused by exchange of body fluids. An AIDS victim might pass on this disease to a disease free person if their body fluids are exchanged. Unprotected sex with multiple partners is the main cause behind a person being affected with AIDS. Apart from this another common source through which this disease can get transmitted is when one uses contaminated and used needles for injecting some drug inside the body.

Aids Prevention

In order to avoid the AIDS one should take certain steps while having sex. This is because AIDS is mainly a sexually transmitted disease. During heterosexual sex one should always use condoms for anal and vaginal sex. During Oral sex dental dam should be used. Apart from that one should also be careful while taking any injections and should ensure that the syringe is not used. An infected syringe while taking an injection or during blood transfusion can cause this disease.

Aids Treatment

Till this date there is no known complete cure for this fatal disease. However across the globe many a famous scientists are researching to find the cure of AIDS and it is expected that a breakthrough will be reached soon. Of late however several drugs have been discovered that can delay the progress of the disease if it is administered in the initial stage.

Advices regarding HIV infection

Avoiding exchange of body fluids is the best way to prevent AIDS. Sex with multiple partners and without condoms should be avoided. Sex between same sexed persons should also be avoided. One should also try to keep a strong immune system and maintain a good lifestyle. Any HIV infected person might not be an AIDS victim. As stated earlier the disease may take quite some time to manifest and at times a person might be a carrier of the HIV virus but not have the disease at all. So one should ensure that even if it is discovered that the person is HIV infected he/she should not lose hope. Positive think will help a person to live a healthy life even after HIV infection has been discovered in him/her.
