phillipinesThe country Philippines is an archipelago comprising more than 7000 islands, on the Western Pacific Ocean in Southeast Asia. The islands, Luzon at the north and Mindanao at the south are the largest among all. The islands are of volcanic origin, so a major part of the terrain is mountainous, where enthusiasts can go for trek or hike. The country also has excellent white beaches and spectacular underwater world for the sea lovers.

Being the capital city of the country, Manila still boasts the evidences of its colonial past. The city is one of the most populated cities of the world. Intramuros is the oldest district of the city, which was built in 16th century by the Spanish invaders. Some of the ancient buildings like St Augustine Church and the Old Fort are the main attraction for the history lover tourists. The Arts and Science Museum and the American Military Cemetery and Memorial are worth visiting. The city has vibrant bars, restaurants, markets and parks, which offer plenty of recreations.

Boracay is a popular resort destination, with its pristine white beaches. The sea is ideal for wind surfing and sailing. It is also a perfect place for snorkeling experts, as they can enjoy a vibrant tropical marine life along with magnificent coral reefs.

Cebu Island is much related to the history of the country, as the Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan landed to this spot while completing his circumnavigation tour. The main attractions on this historical island are the Spanish Fort San Pedro, the 16th century Santo Nino Church and the Magellan’s Cross. There are some wonderful natural sites nearby to this island such as the Chocolate Hills on Bohol Island, exquisite resorts and beaches on Pangalo Island, secluded coves and beaches on Bantayan Island and excellent diving spots on Sumilon Island.

Mindoro Island on the western part of the archipelago is famous for the crystal clear water, brilliantly colored coral reefs and sparkling white beaches.

Enthusiast divers should visit the best diving spots of the country at El Nido on Palawan Island. The St Paul Subterranean National Forest is a remarkable landscape of the island with the under ground river and network of caves.
