People traveling from eastern hemisphere to western or vice versa has to air travel for at least 12 to 15 hours. If it is an early morning flight from the homeland at eastern side, when it will reach to the western end, you will still find it is day time. Or after taking a good night sleep on board, reaching the destination you might find that it is just the evening. Almost same thing will occur if any one is traveling from west to east. So, your body clock needs to be adjusted according to the destination time. No matter you are traveling for office tour or family vacation, you need to be on the toes with complete freshness of body and soul, once you reach your destination. Here are some common tips which might help you in controlling your body clock.

  • First of all, you should set your watch to the destination time zone once you take your seat on the flight and try to act according to that time.
  • Try to remain awake on your flight. If you have nothing to do but sleeping, then take short naps. In between the naps, engage yourself in other activities like reading, watching TV or listening to music. If you can carry the laptop, you might play games.
  • Ask for a big bottle of water from the air hostess, when your flight starts. Keep on drinking water quite frequently. This will help your body to remain properly hydrated and you will need to get up from the seat quite often for going to the toilet. This exercise will keep you awake, even if you feel sleepy during the flight.
  • It will be better, if you can avoid drinking on board. Alcohol will make your body more lethargic and relaxing and pretty soon you will get asleep.
  • Once you reach the destination, take a fresh shower. Make your mind adjusted to the local time. In case it is night time, then go to bed, even if you not feeling sleepy and if it is daytime, then control yourself from sleeping. If you can not, then set your alarm clock to wake you up after 1 hour.
