whitehouseThousands and thousands of tourists regularly visit the capital of US, Washington DC. This historical city was selected as the permanent capital of the country by the first president of nation, George Washington. Located beside the Potomac River, the city is the home for quite a few landmark buildings of the country and each of these is a must-visit for the travelers.The 3 km long National Mall is the most interesting place for the tourists. Starting from the US Capitol to the bank of Potomac River, this long strip of land is covered with green velvety grass and plenty of trees. This area is the location for the famous iconic structures of the city including the Washington Monument, the Capitol, the Memorials and the White House.

Being located on the top of the Capitol Hill, US Capitol is the central governing point of the country. The massive white dome of the Capitol is the most important landmark of the city. The bulding houses several important offices like the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court. It is also the home for the largest library in the world, the Library of Congress. The interior of this construction is exquisitely decorated with precious and gorgeous paintings, murals and statues.

The next important landmark of the city is the White House, which is the private residence and office of the President. You may take the guided tour to explore this palatial building. The Oval Office, the Gold and White East Room and the State Dining Room are most impressive with exclusive furniture and artifacts.

Washington Monument is located at the western end of the Mall and from here you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view with the most important buildings. This 555 ft monument was built with granite blocks in the memory of the first President of the country, George Washington. You can ride the elevator to reach the gallery at the top and to take some of the best snaps of your trip.

Lincoln Memorial was built to pay tribute to the 16th US President, Abraham Lincoln. The memorial was built as a Greek Temple by using modern architecture. At the hub of the building, there is a majestic statue of Abraham Lincoln, made from white marble. From this point, experience the most dramatic view of the city keeping the Washington Monument and Capitol Hill in one line.
