The Awe-Inspiring Cliffs of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan

Located on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan in the United States, the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is an area of rugged shoreline beauty with scenic lookouts, and cascading waterfalls. This national park offers many hiking trails, beaches along Lake Superior and fabulous campsites that are ideal for picnicking.

There are numerous rock formations here that resemble human figures, castles and fortresses. Visiting the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is like coming to a fairytale land of natural caves, rocky cliffs sandwiched between the clear waters of Lake Superior.

The Sand Point beach is a popular spot here, where the blue expanse of the lake waters meets the rocky hills on the shores. This spot affords great views of the sunset as the lake waters and the surrounding landscape form a beautiful canvas of myriad shades of crimson. The Miners Castle is the most famous rock formation of the park. This Miners Castle is a unique shaped cliff standing at the edge of the bay and affords panoramic views of the deep blue waters of the lake. The Chapel Rock has a pretty trail that leads up to the cliff from where you can see the beautiful sight of the cascading Chapel falls. The Twelvemile Beach is located on Lake Superior and is a beautiful long stretch of a sandy beach where you can enjoy a relaxing time watching the calm waters of the lake.

The many cliffs along this lakeshore have numerous water cascades that provide added beauty to its landscape. Popular among them are the Miners Falls, Sable Falls, Munising Falls and more. The Sable Falls are the most accessible among these as water tumbles several layers, forming a beautiful pattern. The Mosquito Falls has thick water cascades flowing down rocky formations amidst lush tropical surroundings. A trail along this waterfall leads you through lush greenery and colourful wildflowers.
