Holiday in Shannon – Ireland
The Shannon region of Ireland includes regions of Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary and South Offaly. A holiday in the Shannon region would be wonderful as there are a lot of things to do and places to go. The Shannon River from which the region has acquired its name flows through it and a luxurious cruise can be arranged for the water lovers. Offaly
There is a lot a visitor can see in this part of Shannon. A visit to the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre is worth a visit. A visitor can do activities like cruising, golfing, fishing or talk long walks. The Grand Canal joins the river Shannon here and there are ruins of Clonamacnoise which are very famous and a must visit. There is a narrow gauge railway on the Shannon Bridge which should be seen by every tourist. The great telescope was invented here.
Tipperary
Tipperary is full of scenery and a photographer’s paradise. Some important landmarks are the Rock of Cashel, the 12th century Cahir Castle, Ormond Castle and the Swiss cottage in Cahir. The Tipperary County is rich in historic monuments and sites. Its capital is Nenagh.
Clare
Places to see here are the most famous Cliffs of Moher and the quiet waters of Lough Derg. There are a lot of attractions, natural as well as man made to be seen in this county. Some of the places which are a must visit are the Burren National Park, The Aillwee Cave, the Craggaunowen Bronze Age project and many more. Tourists can indulge in a lot of activities like surfing, diving, dolphin watching, caving, horse riding, water sports etc. Walking and cycling trails are very famous here.
Limerick
This county is the quiet among all of the other. It is very rural and charming rural people welcome tourist with a lot of warm affection. The mountains of Ballyhoura, the Golden Vale, the beautiful river Shannon are the places to visit. This county has ‘Ireland’s prettiest village’ – Adare. There are thatched cottages and old churches to see in Adare. There are a lot of archaeological sites which can be visited as well. Irish coffee was invented in the Foynes Flying Boat museum.
