The Quaint City of Cambridge

A charming city with a great historical past and home to one of the world’s most prestigious and well-known universities, Cambridge is a unique blend of the past and present. There is lots to see and do here, but the ambiance of the city is truly captivating, as its narrow streets, many beautiful architectural sites, universities, gardens and museums capture and retain the beauty of the medieval times.

You can relax watching the pretty English scenery as you stroll along the countryside of Cambridge, or for a connoisseur of arts, architecture, music, and plays you can visit the many fabulous museums, art galleries and theatres here. For those wanting some fun, head to the many pubs and cafes here to sample fancy drinks and delicious entrees.

The King’s Chapel is the most famous tourist landmark in Cambridge. One of the most beautiful examples of Gothic architecture, this cathedral has fine carvings and exquisite stained glass painting. The ambiance created by the stone sculptures and the opulent architecture coupled with glass work is magnificent.

The beauty of this building also affords many opportunities to click beautiful photographs that make for perfect postcard. While in Cambridge, visit the Cambridge University Library, which houses a truly rare collection of books and literature.

Cambridge is also home to many beautiful gardens and parks, each of which is unique. Cambridge University Botanic Garden is the most popular tourist garden here as it houses exotic plant species amidst sprawling lawns, fountains and lakes. The park also has a unique rock garden which is a famous site here. Among the largest gardens in Cambridge is the Emmanuel College Gardens. This lush park has many colorful shrubs and flowering plants, located amidst many acres of green lawns.

A little known yet beautiful garden in Cambridge is The Cambridge Backs located on the edge of a riverside. Covered with various hued swaying daffodils during spring, this garden also provides stunning views of the picturesque scenery of the riverside.

Among the oldest public museums of the world, the Fitzwilliam Museum here has an exquisite collection of European paintings and antiques from Rome , Greece and Asia dating back to the 14th century.
