Bocas del Toro – ‘A Biologists Fantasy’

bocasBocas del Toro is the most attractive city of the Panama. The Lonely Planet guide calls it “A Biologist Fantasy”.  It is an Archipelago and has the most exotic views all around it. It shares its border with Costa Rica and is Panama’s most famous tourist destination. There are lonely beaches and dense rain forests to see. The vegetation is so thick that a dead man will come alive with all the oxygen in the air. The town of Bocas is a place where every traveller will love to come again and again. Christopher Columbus was the first white man to visit Bocas and 1502.

The pure and virgin beaches will mesmerise anybody. The water is cool and relaxing. The town of Bocas is on Colon Island and accommodation arrangements are made here. It is a small town and every visitor will get their necessities here. It has a variety of decent restaurants and clubs. Some of the famous resorts are Al Natural and Casa Selva del Mar. Hotel rates start at a minimum of $10 per night. There are small eco friendly resorts on some neighbouring islands as well.

Activities which can be enjoyed by the tourists here are arranged by the hotels. Activities like snorkelling, diving, rain forest tours etc. are arranged on the nearby islands which have access by boat. Bocas is a good honeymoon destination as well. Bocas is nowadays a place for people to build their second homes and retirement houses.

The best way to reach Bocas is by air. There are flights from Panama City and also from San Jose and Costa Rica. The best mode of transport within Bocas is walking, as the town is small and cosy. Other option would include motorbikes on rent, taxis and transportation to the other islands is by water taxis.

Some of the attractions of Bocas are the ‘Barefoot Panama’ adventure trips. The magnetic islands are explored on foot and the place where Columbus landed is one landmark to be seen. Personalised trips are arranged fro the adventurous travellers. The Red Frog beach is one should not miss at all. Here you get to see the Red Frog with black polka dots on it. Bocas del Toro is a destination one should visit at least once in a lifetime.
