Sony S-Series Walkman is a new MP3 player from the Sony. It is a compact device with easy to navigate menus and soft wares.

It is a slim device with a thickness of just 10.22 mm. There is a 2.4 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 320×240. It has two versions 8GB and 16GB. It is available in four colours black, pink, and red and violet. The walkman comes with head phones, a stand and a cable.

The setting up of the Walkman is extremely easy. The installation software is stored in the walkman itself.  Just drag and drop music and video files in to the menu. They are then placed on the walkman. There is an automatic video conversion feature. Just drag and drop the files to the software and it automatically convert it to a WMV file and then place it on the walkman.

The display of the walkman is clear and sharp with an easy to navigate menu. With the help of the click wheel the functions can be easily selected.
There is a built in FM radio, a voice recorder and a speaker. It records memos and it also records straight from the FM radio.

Music comes through the built in speakers in a clear, crisp and powerful way. The menu is easy to go through. The songs can be arranged by artist, album and genre. There is a playlist function which helps to create personalized playlists.

The S series walkmans have “Clear Audio” and “Digital Linear Phase speaker System” technologies which make it superior in sound quality both inside and outside.

The walkman has great video playback too. The images are clear and crisp. The built in speaker makes the videos a great experience. The headphones give a more intense and clear version.

The walkman supports a variety of codec both of the audio and video variety. Audio codec include MP3, WMA (DRM), AAC (non DRM) and Linear PCM. The video codec support includes AVC (H.264/AVC) baseline profile, MPEG-4 and WMV (DRM). The new model also supports JPEG photo format.

S series walkman has a long battery life. It will play up to 42 hours with audio only. If the video is also there to accompany the battery time drops to a 6.5 hours. If the speaker is switched on both audio and video drops to 17 and 5 hours respectively.
