Understanding Your Toddler’s Development

The development of child is closely observed by all the parents, especially the first time parents. Every child shows their development in different pattern and rates. It is absolutely absurd to compare the development of your kid with that of the next doors. Toddlers develop naturally in their own rhythm. Not all toddlers are alike in their activities. They may differ in various aspects as the adults do. Parents would also cultivate their anxiety by judging their toddlers by reading the parenting books and websites. Remember, books and other source of similar information can give you a broad picture or guidelines that the kids of a particular age group would show.

An ideal parent should allow the child to develop in its pace without complaining for any delay in development. There are no hard and fast rules for what a child must do at which age. But, in normal situation the toddlers walk by the age of two. They would start walking before or after they turned one year old. But again, there should be made no comparison with other kids regarding such activity. Kids respond in different manner for different things. Never hurt the little hearts with the blunt judgements. It will only cause harm than good. Similarly there are toddlers who talk very fast and surprise the adults around. But some other even take 2- 3 years to start uttering a word.

The development cycle of a toddler should be able to express their adjustment to the environment outside their mother’s womb. It is through this they learn new things around them and cultivate new practices and activity so as to be an adult like us. A toddler should be able to recognise different things that they see in the surrounding, point out to what they want or like, express their emotions, trying out on new things and of course, to make a mess of the things around.  Toddlers are usually quick learners and so the parents should also take effort in developing the social skills of their child. The participation and involvement of parents plays a good role in their toddler’s development.
