Tips to Deal with Stretch Marks

stretch_marksStretch marks are quite common for the pregnant woman. Almost 90% of pregnant women have stretch marks on breasts, abdomen, thighs and buttocks, once they are into the post-partum phase. Actually, this occurs as the skin gets stretched to accommodate the baby inside the uterus. The interior layers of the skin get torn in places, which can be visible from the outer layer.

Generally, it is very difficult to conceal these marks once your pregnancy period is over. Most of the mothers do not get enough time to look into these matters as they get much involved with their newborn babies. However, those who are conscious about their physical status do pay serious attention to conceal these scary look of the skin.

The only permanent solution to remove these stretch marks is through plastic surgery. Laser surgery has also proved to be useful in concealing these marks. Blue light therapy uses a gel and light to reconstruct the torn areas. Normally, you can wear tight but soft inner wears, so that within minimum time your uterus contracts to its normal size along with the abdomen. The contraction often helps to shrink the skin in the stretched regions. You may also use cocoa butter cream, which saturates the skin with moisture and helps to rebuild the gaps. You can also purchase specially formulated stretch mark removal creams containing cocoa butter, wheat germ oil and lanolin.

However, it is better to use some sort of prevention method, so that the stretch marks do not appear at all. As your tummy grows, you may keep on applying cocoa butter cream, so that your skin remains rejuvenated from the beginning. This way, you can limit the appearance of the stretch marks to some extent. However, you should not wear any thing too tight on the abdomen, to control these developments. It will be too harmful for your baby, as he will not be able to grow properly inside the uterus.
