Tips to Deal with Bedwetting
Bedwetting is one of the most common problems for most of the young kids. If it is not trained in the early days, then it can take time to normalize. Initially there is nothing unusual with this problem, as most of the children are too young to control themselves even when they are awake. But, once your kid has been trained to toilet, then it becomes really embarrassing. Most of the parents use diapers at least for the night to safeguard the bed. But that is not going to solve the issue. Your child can stop bed wetting by the age of 2-3, if you can train her properly. Otherwise she might take some more time to stop this bad habit of her own, with little support from the parents.
You should not loose your temper at the midnight if you find that your child is at fault. It is going to make her more nervous about this issue. Remember that this is not a permanent problem and if you have little more patience you can easily manage in training her.
Check the amount of water intake during evening. Feed her enough water at day time, but limit the liquid intake for the second half of the day. This also works to stop bed wetting.
Most of the time bed wetting gets controlled, once the child starts to be on solid diet and stops her midnight feed. Avoid watery foods like milk, soup or stew during nighttime.
Ask her to go to the toilet, before she goes to the bed for the night. This should be an everyday affair for your kid. If she does not drink water after coming from the toilet, there is much less chance of bed wetting.
You must notice the time of the bedwetting. On a daily basis, your child should wet the bed more or less at same time. Many children make some movement before bedwetting. If you can make a routine to wake up at that moment, then you are almost successful to save the bed. You may keep the baby potty just beside her crib, so that it becomes very easy to pick her up from the bed and make her sit on the potty. If you can follow this strict routine for 6 months, your child will be habituated with the potty and she will not free herself until she sits on the potty.
