Fighting with Dental Cavities
Dental cavities are one of the most common problems for the kids in their tweens. Once the cavity is formed, then you have nothing left to do. You can not control the formation of cavity, but if you take certain preventions and regular care from the very beginning, then you might avoid this problem to some extent.
The dental care should begin even before the first tooth appears for your baby. For a newborn baby, teeth have already formed inside the gum. Usually, after 6 to 8 months, these teeth come out from the gum. However, you should not wait for that long to start the regular procedure of cleaning and massaging the gum. Use a damp washcloth to clean your baby’s gum after each feeding. This is because of the fact that milk remains in the mouth helps to build up harmful bacteria on the gum. Same thing happens for a grown-up kid, if you do not insist her to wash her mouth after every time she eats something. Any kind of remaining food particles on the teeth will accelerate the decaying process.
Another harmful practice for the baby’s teeth is to indulge your baby to sleep with a feeding bottle in her mouth. This habit might be very useful to put your baby into deep sleep, but nothing can be more harmful to the teeth than this. The sugar part of the milk or fruit juice might damage the enamel of the teeth, which might later lead to cavities. This also leads to discoloration of the teeth, which is known as bottle mouth. Many babies have a bad habit of spending the day with the bottle on their mouth. You should schedule particular time of the day to feed your baby.
Chocolates and ice creams are also not healthy for the tooth. However, do not stop your kid from having them. But, you should control the frequency of having these items and also ask your child to wash her mouth each time they have these foods.
Regular brushing the teeth and washing the mouth are the best processes to prevent the cavities. At the same time, do not forget to take your child to the dentist at least once in every year.
