Dealing With IBS
IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome is pretty common to young kids, causing abdominal pain, bloating, gas and uncontrolled bowel movement. Your baby could have either loose bowel movement or constipation. Though it is not that serious, but your child may feel uneasy due to this problem. You may take your kid to the pediatrician for medication and diet prescriptions; however a lot of this problem depends on the lifestyle. Your child may also have food allergy for certain foods. Excessive stress and tension may also cause this situation for your kid. Whatever be the reason behind it, you should take care of this problem as early as possible. Otherwise, it might turn to become chronic digestive disorder in future for your child.
Dietary changes many times have helped the children, who are affected with IBS. Go to a dietician to know about the suitable foods for your child and follow accordingly. Your pediatrician can also suggest the special diets for your baby. There might be certain restrictions applicable on certain foods like milk, spicy foods etc.
Many times, simple changes of lifestyle help to cope up with this problem. Change the dinner time to little early or try to follow a fixed schedule in his daily activities etc. These will make his system more disciplined to digest properly.
Involve your child in various physical activities like exercise, sports etc. In fact, exercise will be helpful for him later in his life. Exercise will activate the digestion process of your kid gradually and thus he will feel much better within few days.
In case your child has any depression, you may take him to a counseling session from a reputed psychiatrics. This might help him to reduce his stress and tensions, resulting in a healthy way to life.
In addition to all these, your pediatrician may suggest medications such as laxatives or anti-diarrhea medications. All these medicines will help your child to feel much better and to reduce his uneasiness.
