Right Time To Potty Train
Most of the times, kittens are trained by mother cats to use litter box. But if so is not the case with you, then you will have to take the responsibility yourself. You should not start potty training if the kitten is a new born. The newborns need stimulation to clear themselves. You can rub a wet cloth on genital areas of the kitten after every meal. This will help them to urinate or excrete.
In the due course of time when they start to feed or walk, you can start potty training them.
Litter Box Training
First step goes towards buying a good litter box. Make sure that the height of the litter box is not too high and sides should be low so that cat does not find difficulty in stepping over it.
Make a habit of placing your kitty inside the litter box after every meal. Do remember to scrape the litter a bit. This action will help in prompting the kitten to understand that what the place is meant for. Within a day or two, with recurrence of the same, the cat will understand and evacuate only in litter box.
Cage Training
In case the kitten is not interested to use litter box, then you can try cage training. You just need to make sure that the cage is big enough to accommodate only food, water and litter box. Cats are very particular beings. They will not excrete at the same place where they eat. Soon, the cat will herself learn to use litter box for evacuation.
