The greyhound is quite a devoted dog that at the same time it is charming, intelligent, loving and laid- back. Greyhound is often undervalued because of its reserved behavior that it has towards strangers and even towards their masters. These dogs mostly react to tone of one’s voice. It is an interesting fact about them that they do not listen to you if they feel that the voice is not stronger than that of their master’s. Owners should behave calmly and at the same time their voice must be embodied a feeling of natural authority. It is recommended to socialize your greyhound well with other dogs. This will prevent timidity in your dog.

Greyhounds generally have a prey drive and it can easily kill cats or other small domestic animals. It is a greyhound’s instinct to chase almost anything that moves fast and quickly. They seldom show difficulties with other dogs and are good with children. These dogs have tremendous stamina and they hardly bark. This breed of dogs are non- vigilant.

These dogs are quite prone to health problems such as bloating. It is good to feed 2 – 3 small meals to your greyhound rather than giving him a large one. They are quite sensitive to insecticides and drugs. The dog is also prone to hypothyroidism. These dogs can do perfectly fine indoors if they get to do proper exercises. Compared with other hounds, the greyhounds are relatively inactive indoors. Grey hounds can sometimes be sensitive to cold climates. You should never leave this dog unleashed outside as they may get unsafe for others.
