Feeding Your Fish

People care about various aspects of aquarium such as temperature, habitat and much more. But most of the time, a very important phenomena of feeding gets overlooked. Proper care has to be taken while deciding certain factors such as how much, when, how often the officials should the fishes be fed and the problems that are associated with overfeeding of the fish. Types of food should also be giving a good amount of consideration while feeding the fish.

Most of the people get involved in feeding their fish too much. Feeding your fish 3 to 4 times a day should be really avoided. You can decide the correct feeding amount by carefully watching how much your fishes eat in a time span of 1 to 2 minutes. You can now feed same amount of food, twice a day to your fish. It depends on you whether you want to feed your fish once or twice a day. If you just feed your fish once a day then you can increase the time limit to 4 to 5 minutes.

Any extra food given to the fish can only cause harm. The left food material results in the deteriorating the water conditions. The food that is left after eating gets spoiled due to fungal and bacterial infection on them. They either accumulate at the bottom or create a cloudy effect in water by getting dissolved. It also supports growth of other micro-organisms inside the tank. People who generally face algae problems in their fish tank notice that algae, seems to disappear when they cut the feed of fish.

Overfeeding also results in bloating. This problem can be majorly seen with goldfish. When fish eats too much, and their stomach tends to expand. The expansion is to the limit that it starts to push other organs of the body. The expansion may also result in pushing the swim bladder. When you see your fish going belly-up, he did make sure that your fish have been overfeeding. The problem finally subsides and the food gets digested.

Different fishes have different feeding demands. It is vital to find out what all your fishes like to eat.
