Dog_WalkDogs of all breed and size needs to be taken for walks. It is a important practice in order to keep your dog mentally stable. A dog is an instinctive walker. Wild dogs also gather in packs and walk in the morning. Simply taking your dog to the backyard or park is not enough.

Walking your dog is not as simple as it sounds. If you let your dog walk ahead of you such that his leash is in your hand then unknowingly you are reinforcing your dog’s mind that it is him who is superior to you. According to them it is leader who goes first. Your walking behind the dog may create a number of behavioral issues regarding the dog’s ‘personality’ and ‘trait’. Your walking behind the dog creates an imbalance in their mental energy and de-relaxes them. A simple sign of your dog getting high strung or hyper clearly states that the dog has been refrained of right amount of walk or exercise.

A good pack walk is brilliant idea to introduce your dog with another dog. It is important for dogs to get friendly and accept each other. Any unwanted reaction from your dog towards other dog or vice versa should be immediately corrected. By the end of the walk both the dogs will feel as if they are one pack. It is important that all the dogs that are on pack walking should be behind the person that is holding their leash. Any dog walking ahead of the person holding its leash will feel like a leader of the whole group. You have to make the dogs understand that the human beings are at the highest packing order. This is an important consideration since a single dog ahead can set all other dogs to supersede their master.

While getting ready to take your dog for a walk, make sure that you call your dog to you. You must never ever go to the dog to put on the leash. As the dog arrives make it sit calmly and make sure that they do not snap over the lead. It is not recommended to use retractable leashes.
