Natural Remedies for Acne
Acnes have been a friendly foe for many of us over the years. There are many reasons for a sudden outbreak of acne ranging from stress to hormones to the diet. Just as there are varied factors for an acne flare-up there are varied methods to treat them by using natural remedies easily available to us.
Mix cinnamon powder with lemon juice in equal portions and apply to the skin for immediate relief. Cinnamon mixed with honey and water can also be used. Leave it on overnight and wash the face in the morning. Applying a freshly cut clove of garlic on the pimple also reduces the inflammation of the acne.
A paste of fenugreek leaves in water applied on the face everyday is a great method to stop a flare-up of acne. Applying fresh mint juice on the face before retiring for the night also helps in reducing spread of acnes. Lime juice mixed with groundnut oil applied to the acne prone face will help the further spread.
Papaya is excellent for treating acnes. For this, blend the skin and pulp of the raw papaya and apply on the face. Keep this paste on for about half hour and then wash off. Raw grated potatoes applied to the face for ½ hour is also a great remedy.
Grate cucumber, carrot and oatmeal and cook with milk. Use this as a face pack for removing blackheads. Using a face pack made up from mixture of milk and nutmeg (grounded) should be applied and left on the face for two hours, after which it should be washed off. Blend turmeric and neem leaves to make a face pack and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Ripe tomatoes can be mashed and applied as a face pack to reduce acnes.
Rose water mixed with lime juice is also an excellent remedy for acne treatment.
It is advised that the face should be kept clean to avoid the built-up of oil. Drinking at least 8 – 10 glasses a day tends to keep the body hydrated and also helps in removing the toxins. For quick relief benzoyl peroxide can also be applied to the affected area. Changing the diet to a healthier diet rich in fruits and vegetables is also helpful as these are rich in antioxidants.
Consuming omega-3 fatty acids is also beneficial. Contrary to the common belief, chocolate and especially the dark chocolate is not a trigger for acnes.
Mixing yoghurt with oatmeal and using it as face pack is also good for acnes.
Take supplements of Vitamin E and A or eat foods rich in these two.
It is important that acne is not touched, as this will only inflame it further.
