Lose weight the Japanese way!

miso-soupThere are two things that the Japanese are always famous for, and stand out quite a lot in those areas too – people who live upto a ripe old age of a centenary or sometimes more and people who never seem to grow fat.

It is always been noticed that there is something about the Japanese food and the way they eat that makes them achieve this seemingly impossible feat for others.

What’s more surprising is that they don’t even seem to try to achieve them. It’s almost like that is a natural part of their lifestyle. So what do Japanese exactly do to remain thin so effortlessly? The answer is all in their secret diet!

Basic rules

Food with low sugar – Compared to the amount of sugar that the Americans consume which is about 60 kg per year, Japanese consume only about 20 kg per year. Also, Japanese eat more rice and cereal compared to Americans. This leads to lesser accumulation of fat in the body.

Variety is the key – Variety in food is quite important since that keeps all the nutrients in the food intact.

Eat less – Chopsticks also happen to play a very important role in weight loss. Since eating with chopsticks don’t allow you to eat too much food at a time and slows down your speed of eating, it aids in better digestion of food.

Recommended food

Steamed rice - This is undeniably an inseparable part of the diet of any Asian. This is a very good alternative for fatty food since it contains more starch that helps to maintain a slimmer body.

Fried food – No, we are not talking about deep fried food but food that is fried for a short time in high heat with no fat. This usually helps to keep the nutrients of the vegetables intact.

Sashimi – Sashimi consists of quite a high amount of omega 3-fatty acids and poly unsaturated fatty acids. So this should definitely be the top of your diet list.

Miso soup – This is another low fat food which is also rich in vitamin B12 and zinc that is important for immunity. It also contains a large mount of soy bean paste which consists of healthy bacteria in them.

Other recommended food – Oriental tea (especially green tea), seaweeds, nimono, udon, mushimono, nabemono and sushi.

Don’t forget to eat as much vegetables and fruits as possible and avoid dairy food too.
