It sometimes happens that when we are in the garden or inside our home we are stung by a wasp or bee. These insect give a venomous sting
which is painful, can itch and swells at a time. What will you do now? Will you “simply remember your favorite thing”? No, that will not do. You need a proper care and treatment to soothe the injury.
The first thing of treatment is to remove the sting. Scrap a butter knife or a credit card against your skin on the opposite direction of the sting entry. After the sting comes out form the skin treat your skin with ice cubes. This will not only reduce the swelling it will reduce the burning sensation as well. While giving ice treatment, cover ice cubes with soft cloth to avoid the direct use on the skin. Do this for at least 15 minutes. After that, wash the area with medicated soap and cold water. Wipe it gently with a soft towel. To avoid any type of allergy caused by stinging it is better to apply a topical hydro-cortisone cream over it.
There are home remedies of bee sting. Mix three table spoons vinegar and one table spoon salt. Massage that mixture over stinging. Itching and burning sensation will cease down in few minutes. You may apply pickle juice over there to reduce swelling and pain.
Baking soda along with mud when applied on the affected area reduces irritation. Cut a fresh onion into a thin slice and place that on the sting area. Initially it will irritate for a few seconds but keep holding the onion slice for few minutes. You will get relief from it. Pour few drops of apple cider vinegar on the injury. It will extract the poison and lessen swelling and pain. Grind or rub some plantain leaves in between your palms and apply it on the sting site for few minutes. This treatment is effective.
But if the pain and swelling persist consult a doctor. You may need to take pain killer but under the guidance of doctor. To get relief from itching and pain take medicine like Benadryl, Claritin, Motrin or Tylenol. But they should strictly be taken under the guidance of doctor. Take a tetanus booster if you have taken the immunization more than ten years ago.
