Facing Constipation

Constipation-1You will find a lot of people using the word constipation when they are not able to throw away the waste in their body. Constipation has a very specific meaning. When a person gets the feeling that he/she would like to visit the toilet however they are unable to throw the waste out of the body or even if they do throw it out there is a constant sense of incomplete evacuation then it is called constipation. This keeps happening for a lot many days and the waste that does get thrown out is hard and stone like, dry and it hurts while excreting it. People feel that even after visiting the toilet and throwing out the waste, there is heaviness in the intestines and stomach. They call this as constipation and take medicines for it.

Doctors should understand what has actually happened to the patient and then treat him/her. The main reason for constipation is incorrect diet, drinking less water or any other liquids. Eating food which have excess fibres which do not digest properly, food which is raw and dehydrates the body are not good. A good remedy for this would be to eat black raisins and dried figs. They increase the water content of your body and prevent constipation.

Excreting the waste products from your body on a day to day basis is a good habit and a person should not prevent himself from this. Once this becomes a habit automatically the body will get used to it and the body will indicate when it is time to throw out the waste. It is essential that toilets are clean so that no infection can happen due to which a person prevents himself from going to the toilet.

When waste gets accumulated in the lower portion of the intestine and is not thrown out regularly, it starts becoming hard and dry. This stops the smooth functioning of the intestine and hence constipation occurs. Potassium in the blood helps in the proper functioning of the intestine. If there is a deficiency of Potassium then you will face stomach aches. Potassium can be eaten through fruits, fruit juices, dates, figs, dried figs, water melon, banana and oranges. Drinking tea or coconut water is also good. However tea should be had in small quantities.
