Brisk walking burns almost the same number of calories as you would burn while running or jogging but has a lesser degree of injury risks. It is considered to be an effective aerobic exercise.

Brisk walking requires that you walk at a pace which raises your heart rate to a level which is more than your resting heart rate. To brisk walk, put your heel down on the ground; roll your foot till the toe and take care not to unnaturally push your feet. Taking small and short steps is beneficial for the joints and it is easier to maintain a pace of workout.

Swing your arms while walking; helps in giving your arms a good workout. It will also help you to burn more number of calories. Not only this, swinging your arms helps in moving at a faster pace. While walking, keep your back straight with your head in line with your back. Keep your abdominal muscles engaged while walking. Remember to check your posture after some time as the body tends to slouch.

It helps in increasing the fitness levels and in turn aids longevity. Brisk walking is good for relieving backaches and also helps in increasing body flexibility. It helps in strengthening bones and joints and helps in toning the lower body.

Brisk walking not only helps in melting the weight off you but also is good for your cardiovascular health. It is good for increasing lung capacity and excellent for overall toning of the body. It is a low-impact exercise and thus causes minimum of wear-tear in the body.

The best thing about brisk walking is that it requires no extra gadgets or equipments and can be done by anyone.
