Curcuma Longa is the name given by the scientific fraternity for the rhizome Turmeric. The orange tinge of Indian curries is due to the use of turmeric. Indian brides and bridegrooms go through a haldi ceremony (Turmeric is generally called haldi in northern India) before the actual wedding day.
