this-is-it-movie-reviewsIt was already difficult for fans to get enough of the music that Michael Jackson had created, and now came another monster in the form of This Is It – a movie that was dedicated to the star, showing his preparations of his much awaited London tour. Life plays its own unexpected games, and just as the world was getting eager and excited for Jackson’s tour, there was news floating of him being dead.

The most stone-hearted of people can criticize the film for not having anything more than details of the star’s last few days that he had spent in preparations. However, the fact remains that even these critiques, will be seen enjoying the film, and dancing, laughing and clapping during most of the scenes.

Jackson’s love and dedication towards work is clearly seen in this film, where he has been showing rehearsing his dance moves with great precision and effort. The way he gets involved in his work, it becomes difficult to make out if he was actually under some kind of illness. He almost looks like someone half his age practicing his signature dance steps that the world admires. Nobody can make out the effect of the painkillers and other medications that he was reportedly said to be using.

The director of the film Kenny Ortega has done a good job by keeping most of the focus of the film on Jackson’s music and performances. There is great depiction of how massive and large-scale the preparations were for the much awaited London yearlong event at O2 Arena. Jackson is shown in his full spirit, teaching choreography to people, directing the bands, working on song arrangements and what not.

Most of the interviews of the singers, musicians, dancers and crew members were recorded before Jackson’s death and sort of act as fillers between great performances that come in the movie. There is no reference in the film to Jackson’ death, and towards the end of the movie, Jackson by means of a voice-over himself talks about his recent numbers and concern over the environment.

The way one sees Jackson in the movie, it sets him/her thinking on how the star could have endured a year long of performances. But then he had his will power, and the love of people to support him. Irrespective of all the trials and tribulations he underwent, he still never lost hope, and focused on work as if nothing happened.
