Universal Studios breathes new life into the classic lycanthrope with the movie featuring the tale of an American who goes through a disconcerting transformation after he returns to his ancestral residence in Victorian-era, Great Britain. Here he gets assailed and attacked by a werewolf. In another incident, his brother has also vanished recently without leaving behind any trace. Anxious nobleman Lawrence Talbot (played by Benicio Del Toro) returns back to his ancestral home in order to investigate.
During his investigation he happens to reunite with his alienated father (played by Anthony Hopkins) only to discover a fate that is far darker than his most dreadful nightmares. As a juvenile, the untimely and unfortunate death of his mother had also caused Lawrence Talbot to become mature much ahead of time. Though, Talbot has attempted to his best to bury this sting in the times of yore by leaving the Victorian village of Blackmoor behind, the history returns with retribution after his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (played by Emily Blunt), persuades him to come back home and support the investigation of his missing brother. But something grotesque has been pestering the inhabitants of Blackmoor, something that is not human.
Set in the late 1880s, The Wolfman is a remake of a classic horror movie that had same name and it released in 1941. This remake has been directed by Joe Johnston. The movie stars Anthony Hopkins, Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt, Art Malik and Hugo Weaving. The movie is scheduled to be released on 12th February, 2010.
The plotline of the movie has been kept similar to that of Original movie. Talbot reunites with his father after he learns about his brother being missing. He also gets to know about something inhuman and horrific brutally killing the villagers for insatiable Bloodlust. He gets to know about the ancient curse that has afflicted werewolves in the village when the moon is full. In order to destroy the spell that has been casted on the village and to end this vicious circle he needs to kill the nightmarish beast and rid the village of curse. The movie has great effects and it is expected to thrill its audiences.
