Left 4 Dead 2 (PC)

LEFT-4-DEAD-2Left 4 Dead is one of the better zombie apocalypse based games out in the past few years. Coming right on the toes of the first, Left 4 Dead 2 offers exciting new game play, diverse weaponry and a lot more tension than you reckoned for. The game features many improvements over the last one and even though remains the same play at the core, there is nothing about it that one would want to miss.

Left 4 Dead 2 lets you see the apocalypse from both points of view. The survivors have become a lot wittier this time around, thanks to better dialogues and an increased arsenal. The weapons are stronger and work better; the melee attacks have become more effective. Although they require a more one on one style combat, the weaponry is definitely a high point of the game. The infected bring on a whole new round of challenges, especially the roster of the undead with supernatural abilities. They can drown you in acid, crush you into walls and ride you around the map right into death traps. The game has five maps, all of which tie together perfectly well into a smooth campaign. The tension is high and there are enemies descending on you from all directions. The game offers the basic Single play and Multiplayer mode but the Survival, Scavenger and Versus modes make for exciting replays. If you’re tired of dodging the infected, switch on the Versus mode and battle against your team mates as the undead. The new Realism mode definitely ramps up the difficulty and you are left with no aides to work with. All the modes are available online, without loss of any detail. When it comes to detailed environments and background music, it’s hard to beat Left 4 Dead 2. The maps have intricate designs that often provide a clue to the game while feeling a lot more real and threatening than before. The music only adds to the feeling of despair and accurately mirrors the survivor’s emotions.

Left 4 Dead 2 is stylish, well thought out and definitely a great package. It has appeal and can be played for a longer time, thanks to its varied modes of play and rematch options. Even though the AI might be a little problematic at times, the other strengths make up for it. It’s best played with a couple of friends for a highly recommended action packed afternoon.
