Gothic Makeup Tips

goth_makeup_eyesGothic makeup is definitely not the leading fashion style as of now, but there’s a huge chunk of the population around the world that follows it. And those who follow this style, unfortunately, are not exactly treated in the most welcoming manner, the main reason being the facts about Gothic culture being tampered. All those goths out there and Gothic enthusiasts would probably know by now that something that’s Gothic is not a symbolism of depression or something abnormal. There’s also an artistic and a poetic edge to it. Nevertheless, here’s a simple way to get a Gothic makeup in few simple steps.

Let’s begin with preparing your face for the actual makeup. First, wash your face clean and apply a regular moisturizer. After this, apply the concealer at the areas that needs concealing and then go for the foundation. Make sure you go for a paler color. You can do this by blending about two colors and then apply.

Now apply loose powder as soon as you are done with foundation and remember to choose a color much lighter than your skin complexion.

Now that we are done with this, let’s start with the eyebrows. Your eyebrows need to be plucked into a neat line and well groomed. You can fill the eyebrows with a black liner of it’s not dark and thick enough.

After this is done, we get to the most important part, the eyes. First, line the lower and upper eyelids with a thick eyeliner and then carefully smudge the liner to get a darker effect. To make the smudge stay in place, apply some powder over it. Now complete the eye makeup with a strong mascara.

To go about eye shadows, you can use any dark colors, not just black. You can try green, brown or burgundy too. Now apply over to the upper eye lids and fill the inner and outer corners of your eyes.

Next, to color your lips, choose a dark colored lipstick and lip liner and apply as usual. If the lipstick is too dark, you might not need a lip liner. Go for a matte lipstick for a greater effect.

After this is done, apply the rouge to your cheeks to give a more dramatic effect. Start with the cheek bone and work up to the top.

Wear the right clothes to match your makeup and some Celtic accessories and you are done!
