rightsize-skirtChoosing the right sized skirt is a very important aspect if you don’t want the skirt you are wearing to look like a square in a round peg. Skirts of the right size and right length has quite a great potential to perfectly accentuate your curves and bring out the beauty in you. Well, of course, selecting the right type of skirt for the right occasion is equally important too.So here are a few pointers to buy the right skirt.

Right waist line

To make sure the size is the right one for you, you have to first figure out what size you fit in. And it’s not just the size of the waist line that is important. You need to balance out the size of the waist along with the size of the hip line too. This is important if you are going for a tight skirt or a pencil-cut skirt. If it’s more of a free flowing type, just a simple waist line is enough to measure out your size. If it is difficult to find a skirt with the size of your waist line, there are always the elastic ones for your rescue.

Variations in body frame

This is also something that needs to be considered before buying a skirt of the perfect size. If the shape and the cut of the skirt does not fit your frame, the skirt might just look a little more awkward than you might want it to.

Waist – Here, the waistband is pretty important. The longer the waistline, the thicker must be the waistband. Also, if your waist is larger, try going for skirts with a neat elastic around and which is not very prominent too and typically at the back.

For girls with shorter waist, the best choice would be a skirt with narrow elastic facing the front and vice versa for longer waist.

Tummy – Larger tummy can be easily concealed with a narrow elastic waist band. The best types of skirts would be A-line and wrap skirts. Also, avoid skirts with pleats.

Legs – Girls with longer legs would have to avoid mini skirts unless you don’t mind your legs looking longer. Layered and mid-calf type of skirts would look the best with long legs. Mid-calf looks good with shorter legs too but you have to add on high heels to make up for the short legs.
