Introduction to hair loss in women

There might be a lack of sensitivity among the general world towards hair loss in women as compared to the reaction to the same consequences for the men. Nevertheless, what is believed as lack of sensitivities can simply be a lack of noesis. To make it very clear in simple words that women just like men, lose their hairs. In fact, the numbers reveal that men and women have hair loss almost in equal quantity. The major difference between male and female hair loss is a pattern. In males, the hairline would recede and move further and further back unless a man might become completely bald. Though, the hair loss in women is something like a hair thins in a much diffused manner; female hair losses are evenly distributed all across the scalp. As the hairs get thinner in female, hair loss on scalp might become more noticeable. Hair losses can happen in young or older women, but the important thing to learn is that there are hair loss remedies possible.

Causes of hair loss in women

The strands of hairs are made up of extruded and compacted dead cells. Everything we put into our body over the times comes out in the hairs, generally within 3-6 months. Similar to that of the growth rings in any tree, the strata of cells in strands of hairs paint an unblinking picture of where one has been and under what circumstances. This is one reason numerous alternative practitioners consider the quality and quantity of persons’ hairs as a valuable diagnostic factor. But hairs themselves are only the visible part of the story. Hairs grow from living follicles in the skin of the skin. At their shafts, or roots of the hairs, all of the major systems are at work that includes the circulatory, endocrine and CNS. That is why it really hurts when anyone pulls our hairs!

All the hair follicles have four distinct phases the cycles through on very regular base: Growing phase or A nagen, conversing stage or C atagen, rest phase or T elogen, and return growing stage or M esanagen. A total cycle can last anywhere from 2-5 years for each hair follicle. Strange hair losses and thinning occur when follicles are stuck in the Telogen or resting stage. Bald spot occurs when a large number of follicles put off all at one place. Most of the times this would happen slowly, but in some adverse cases it can happen all at once and that causes a clump of hairs to fall out.

Hormones and hair loss

Many women feel more dramatic, localized hairs’ thinning, even a detectable bald spot. This situation is known as male pattern baldness or Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), and it is the commonest form of hair loss in both; males and females. It almost always appears on the tops and sides of the heads and above the foreheads, and might also involve excessive facial and bodily hairs. The range of severity is broad here that ranges from a barely detectable thinning at the part lines at bald spots at the crowns of the heads that spread forwards.

While hair loss in women differs from that of in men, there are some laws of similarity in the way wherein male hormones affect hairs’ growth. Like the body’s own versions of androgens (such as testosterone and DHEA) are obviously gets converted into a substance known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which stimulates blood flows to the hair follicles and thus, promotes hair growth. Problems comes, though, when the follicles’ receptors turn oversensitive towards androgens and get close down; something like to lock the door. This happens when one or all of these conditions are the cases: genetic proclivities, abnormal high levels of free testosterones, or a change in sensitivities towards normal levels of androgens circulating in the bloodstreams.
