Vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, onion, garlic, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, peppers, cucumbers, and turnips can cause gas and fussiness. This can usually last up to 24 hours and then it disappears by itself. |
At least for the first few months after breast feeding you must cut these food types. This can continue till your baby's gastrointestinal tract is more developed.

Milk, cheese, butter and yoghurt in your diet may cause an allergic reaction in your baby. Symptoms include diarrhea, rash, fussiness, and gas or runny nose, cough, or congestion in your baby. |
You must limit or cut back on dairy products from your diet for two weeks. This will give a chance to see if your baby's condition improves. |
Some fruits like citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, lime and tangerines are common irritants. Symptoms in the baby may include fussiness, skin rashes, diarrhea, hives etc. |
You should cut out such food items for some time and then reintroduce one food at a time to find which food is allergic to the baby. |
Chocolate can also be a gastric irritant owing to the chemical called theobromine. Symptoms may include fussiness and diarrhea.
|
You must refrain from eating candy bars and other chocolates for about a week to see if your baby's condition improves.

Alcohol, caffeine and nicotine can also cause interactions with breast milk and should be avoided at this stage. Nuts like peanuts, soy etc can also cause allergies in some babies by mixing with breast milk and care should be taken while consuming the same.
